Shining For God

Kindness is free.  Kindness is something everyone can do.  Kindness is what our world needs.

I am a firm believer in doing kind things for others.  I believe in serving others.  In fact, I think that serving others is one of the foundations of our faith.

Jesus was the most important person.  He wasn't only important, but he was busy.  Think of all that he accomplished while he was here.  But yet, there were so many stories of Jesus stopping what he was doing to help others along the way.  He was never to busy.  He was never to important.  Serving others was not beneath him.  In fact it is what he strived for.  It was an honor.

Somehow, in our society today, serving others has become lost.  We walk by people who need help.  We don't have time to volunteer.  We don't have money to donate.  Even the service industry can be looked down upon by some.  Why?  Are we better?  Smarter?  Busier?  More important?

Jesus loved people.  He helped people because he loved them.  Truly, deeply and wholesomely loved people.  He didn't expect anything from the people who he helped.  He didn't do it for recognition or for people to think a particular way about him.

He was kind because that's what we are here to do.  Being kind to others - without an agenda, without seeking recognition or personal gain is what God wants us to do.  It's what Christians do.  We are kind to others.  We help others.  We don't ask questions first.  We give what extra we have.  Sometimes, we even give what we don't have.

Don't shine so others can see you.  Shine so that through you, others can see them.  YOU are the best way for non-believers to find Jesus.  Show them our God!  Show them his kindness and his love.
